All positive COVID-19 cases reported to our schools pertaining to either staff members or students are reported to the Central Office as they are received by the different schools. Once information about a positive case is received, it is reported to the health department for them to decide if an investigation is going to be done by their team of investigators. When the Central Office receives notice of a positive case either staff or student-related, it is then determined if the staff member or student was at school during the infectious period according to the health department guidance, which is 48 hours prior to symptoms starting. If they were infectious, then we count the staff member or the student on our weekly report. If they were not infectious at school based on their last day at school and the time period when symptoms started, they are not reported on our weekly report. The district is still contact tracing in collaboration with the health department in situations where information is presented.
